Melanotan II 10 mg reconstitution calculator

How much bac water for Melanotan II 10 mg?

There’s no single right amount: the water sets the strength, not how much Melanotan II is in the vial, so use the volume on your pharmacy’s instructions. For example, 1 mL makes 10 mg/mL and 2 mL makes 5 mg/mL; the table below shows what each volume means on a U-100 syringe.

About the 10 mg vial

A vial labeled 10 mg may not hold 10 mg

When researchers tested melanotan II vials from three online shops, each sold as 10 mg, they found between 4.32 and 8.84 mg, and vials from two of the shops held 4.1% to 5.9% unknown impurities (Drug Test Anal, 2015). A forensic lab found a seized vial labeled “Melanotan II” was 30% pure (J Forensic Sci, 2024). The calculator can only trust the label. With 2 mL, a true 10 mg vial is 5 mg/mL, or 50 mcg per unit. A vial holding 4.32 mg would be 2.16 mg/mL (21.6 mcg per unit), and one holding 8.84 mg would be 4.42 mg/mL (44.2 mcg per unit). The same syringe reading could hold less than half of what the label implies, and nothing on the vial would show it.

No label, and serious case reports

Melanotan II isn’t approved by the FDA for any use, so no label sets a water volume, a strength or a storage rule for this vial. The FDA’s compounding safety page says it “may pose risk for immunogenicity” and that “Published case reports discuss serious adverse events including melanoma, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome, sympathomimetic toxidrome and priapism” (FDA). A 2017 review counted four case reports of melanomas arising from existing moles during or shortly after melanotan use (Int J Dermatol, 2017). An FDA import alert for unapproved new drugs lists melanotan products imported “as non-human research purposes only” and then sold online (FDA).

Not the same drug as Scenesse

Afamelanotide (Scenesse) is an FDA-approved alpha-MSH analog, and it is never mixed from a vial. It’s a 16 mg implant that a health care professional places under the skin every 2 months, for adults with a history of phototoxic reactions from erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP) (Scenesse label). Its label warns that it may darken existing moles and freckles, and recommends a full-body skin exam twice a year. Melanotan II is a different drug, so nothing on the Scenesse label, including its strength, applies to a 10 mg vial.

About Melanotan II

US regulatory status

Not approved for human use in the US

Melanotan II is not approved by the FDA for any use, and it is a different drug from afamelanotide (Scenesse), an implant approved for erythropoietic protoporphyria. The FDA’s compounding safety page cites case reports of melanoma, PRES, sympathomimetic toxidrome and priapism, and an FDA import alert covers melanotan products sold online. The FDA plans to discuss melanotan II with an advisory committee before the end of February 2027.

How this Melanotan II calculator works

This Melanotan II reconstitution calculator starts from the 10 mg in your vial. Add the water you mix it with and the dose your prescriber gave you; it divides the mg by the mL to get the strength, then turns your dose into mL and units on a 30, 50 or 100-unit syringe.

Peptinote never suggests a dose or a water volume. The example volumes are there to make the math easy to check, not as advice. For the full method, see the peptide calculator.

Questions people ask

How much bac water melanotan 2 10mg?

There’s no single right amount: use the volume on your pharmacy’s instructions. The water only sets the strength; the vial still holds 10 mg however much you add. With 1 mL it’s 10 mg/mL (100 mcg per unit), with 2 mL 5 mg/mL (50 mcg per unit) and with 2.5 mL 4 mg/mL (40 mcg per unit). Enter your volume and prescribed dose above to get the units. This product isn’t FDA-approved, so no official label sets a water volume and its contents aren’t verified.

How do I reconstitute melanotan 2 10 mg?

Wipe both stoppers with alcohol and let them dry. Draw the volume of bacteriostatic water your pharmacy specifies into a new syringe, add it slowly down the inside of the vial, then swirl gently until clear; don’t shake. Label it with the strength: 10 mg in 1 mL is 10 mg/mL. Full steps: how to reconstitute peptides.

How much bac water for a 10 mg melanotan II vial?

Whatever volume you add, only the strength changes; the vial still holds 10 mg. More water spreads it out, so each unit holds less and the same dose takes more units: easier to measure, but more liquid to inject. Going from 1 mL to 2.5 mL takes each unit from 100 mcg to 40 mcg. Check the volume on your pharmacy’s instructions first. This product isn’t FDA-approved, so no official label sets a water volume and its contents aren’t verified.

How do melanotan II units convert to mg?

Units measure volume (1 unit = 0.01 mL), so converting them to mg needs the strength: mg = units ÷ 100 × mg/mL. In a 10 mg vial, with 1 mL each unit holds 100 mcg, with 2 mL each unit holds 50 mcg and with 2.5 mL each unit holds 40 mcg. Multiply by the units you draw, or let the calculator above do it, with every step shown.

Can Peptinote tell me how many units to take?

No. Peptinote never suggests a dose. Enter the dose your prescriber gave you, and the calculator shows how to measure it: the units, the mL and where the line sits on your syringe, with every step of the math. If you aren’t sure what your dose is, ask your prescriber or pharmacist before drawing anything. How our calculator works.
