Enter the strength on your vial’s label (mg/mL) in the calculator to add a units column for that strength.

Maximum on the label: 7.2 mg. 7.2 mg (WEGOVY HD) applies only to weight reduction in adults. For every other indication the maximum is 2.4 mg.

The prescriber chooses the maintenance dose based on response and tolerability.

Units are shown only where the label gives a volume per dose for a vial, since pens and prefilled syringes aren’t measured with an insulin syringe. 100 units = 1 mL.

mg to units at your concentration

Units on an insulin syringe measure volume: 100 units is 1 mL. How much semaglutide sits in a unit depends entirely on the strength of your vial, so the same mg can be very different numbers of units on two vials.

units = dose mg ÷ mg/mL × 100

The FDA has received reports of people drawing several times their intended amount after mixing up mL, mg and units with compounded GLP-1 products (FDA). Always work from the mg/mL printed on your own vial, and check the result with your pharmacist.

Wegovy and Ozempic charts

Both labels start at a low dose and increase it in steps of at least 4 weeks, as the chart shows. Wegovy and Ozempic pens deliver doses in mg, so the units column only applies if your semaglutide comes in a vial. Wegovy tablets, Ozempic tablets and Rybelsus are oral products with their own schedules; they aren’t interchangeable mg for mg with the injections.

Reconstituting a semaglutide vial

If your semaglutide comes as a powder, it has to be mixed with the liquid your pharmacy specifies before you can measure it. The vial calculators below take the vial size, the water and your prescribed dose to units. For the steps, see how to reconstitute a vial.

Questions people ask

How do I convert semaglutide units to mg?

Turn the units into mL, then multiply by your vial’s strength: mg = units ÷ 100 × mg/mL. Every unit is 0.01 mL, so 20 units is 0.2 mL; at 2.5 mg/mL that holds 0.5 mg, and at 5 mg/mL it holds 1 mg (numbers for illustration only, not a dose). The strength is on your vial’s label; without it, units can’t be turned into mg.

Can I read the Wegovy or Ozempic dosing chart in units?

No. Wegovy and Ozempic come as pens and prefilled syringes that deliver a set dose in mg; they aren’t measured with an insulin syringe, so units don’t apply. Units only make sense for a vial you draw from, at that vial’s strength. Enter yours in the calculator to see the label’s doses in units.

Why does the FDA warn about semaglutide units?

The FDA has received reports of people drawing several times their intended amount of compounded semaglutide after mixing up mL, mg and units (FDA). Units are a volume: what they hold depends on the vial’s strength. Always work from the mg/mL on your own vial and check with your pharmacist.

How do I reconstitute semaglutide?

FDA-approved semaglutide is never a powder; powder vials sold online as “research” products are unapproved drugs. If your semaglutide is a powder, add the volume of liquid your pharmacy specifies, then use the vial calculator for your size: 5 mg or 10 mg. They show the strength each volume gives and the units for your prescribed dose. Steps: how to reconstitute a vial.

Can Peptinote tell me how many units to take?

No. Peptinote never suggests a dose. Enter the dose your prescriber gave you, and the calculator shows how to measure it: the units, the mL and where the line sits on your syringe, with every step of the math. If you aren’t sure what your dose is, ask your prescriber or pharmacist before drawing anything. How our calculator works.
